Honoring the spirit of the indigenous people around the world is a way of life for Greg Flys With Eagles. Bridging the gap between the spiritual and physical realms, his emotionally charged work draws generously from a deep well of knowledge, research, and roots. Greg's "from the heart" explorations examine the relationship between nature as we can see it, and the mythological past as only it can be envisioned.Even when dealing with visionary elements, his work takes on a quality of superrealism."
Gregs's years of study and research in historical Indian culture and crafts has served to reinforce his dedication to the authentic presentation of the American Indian. He says, "I always try to capture the dignity and majesty of where the people have been and what they continue to be today". His current artwork evolves from the history, ceremony, mythology, and spirituality of the first residents. His spiritual art has evolved over the years as he followed the traditional Native ways of his ancestors. Stories of ancient symbols and tribal spirituality come alive as people begin to look deeper into his work. Many who view his work see the intrinsic quality within. Many believe him to be involved in shamanic practices. His work carries a spiritual presence that can be felt in everything he does.
He suggests the earth and its people are trying to awaken a nature of spirit long forgotten. He believes we are trying to understand our true connections with the Earth, Sky, Universe, and a Higher Power to which all are connected. Gregs work is fueled by an inherent interest in the indigenous peoples of the earth. His current artwork evolves from the history, ceremony, mythology, and spirituality of the Native people everywhere. Indigenous Art is by nature deeply spiritual and symbolic that not only deepens the mind but fills the soul as well.
"Through my artwork, I contemplate the constant struggle between the ever expanding modern world and the natural world. I see art as a link between past and present."
Greg Flys With Eagles says he wants his work to be so authentic that it carries an aura of "Tribal" ... so identifiable that when someone looks at his work they will know, without asking, that this piece was created with love, pride and deep respect. Greg's years of study and research in historical Indigenous culture and crafts has served to reinforce his dedication to the authentic presentation of the first residents of Mother Earth. An award winning artist, Greg's work has been represented in galleries across the United States and Europe. He has participated in many exhibitions, including international and national juried shows.
