Disc Golf, like a wild fire, has caught on fast here in Asheville and Western North Carolina. With the re-construction and re-opening of Richmond Hill, not to mention the much anticipated 18-hole expansion that is rumored to be on the horizon, more and more locals are coming to understand the pleasures of Disc Golf. It’s no surprise though, for Disc Golf is a perfectly suited sport for those that inhabit these mountains. It’s a great excuse to stretch your legs and walk in the woods, a chance to drink in the spectacular mountain views, and an opportunity to take pleasure in the camaraderie of a round of 18. Western North Carolina is home to a plethora of wonderful Disc Golf courses, all close by, and all free.

Richmond Hill Disc Golf Course

Distance:	Located 2 miles (3 km) North of Asheville.

Directions: I-240, to Hwy. 19/23 to UNCA exit. Left 0.5 miles to left at light (Riverside Dr.), 0.4 miles to right at Pearson Bridge, 0.3 miles to right on Richmond Hill Dr., 0.3 miles to right at top of hill, go right. Entrance at end of Richmond Hill Dr. 20 mph through the neighborhood please!

Black Mountain Disc Golf Course

Distance:	Located 13 miles (21 km) East of Asheville.
Established:	Course Established in 2000.

Directions: I-40 to Exit 64; south on Hwy. 9, after 0.75 mile bear right on Blue Ridge Rd., 1.5 miles to a right on Rec. Park Dr. to course.

Mars Hill College DGC

Directions: From Asheville; 19/23N or I26N. Mars Hill exit, left on Hwy 213, through town and campus to a left on Park Dr. (chapel), immediate right into large parking lot. Park and walk across street. 1st tee in front of kiosk (by town houses). Maps in guest book, target #18 in large field.

Crookston Disc Golf Course

Directions: From Asheville take I-26 South to Exit 13 (Fletcher/Mountain Home/Hwy25) and turn left. Go 2.5 miles to a right on Howard Gap Rd., 0.25 mile to a left into Fletcher Community Park. Course at back of park.

Waynesville DGC

Directions: From Asheville or Knoxville; I-40; Exit 27. Follow Hwy 23/74 west, take exit 102 and turn right on Russ Ave. Go under overpass to 2nd light and a left on Howell Mill Rd. (Eckerds on corner). Go 0.5 mile to a right on Vance St. and 2nd entrance on left. 1st tee near kiosk.

Marion Disc Golf Course

Distance:	Located 31 miles (50 km) East of Asheville.
Established:	Course Established in 2005.

Directions: 221 bypass; Tate St./Rest Area exit. Northbound: left at top of ramp, then quick right on Hoyle St., left at stop sign. Southbound: left at top of ramp. Go over bridge, right on Hoyle St. Left at stop sign to Crossmills Park.

Elk Mountain Disc Golf

Distance:	Located 41 miles (66 km) North of Asheville.
Established:	Course Established in 2004.

Directions: From Spruce Pine, NC; take Hwy 19E north 12 miles to Plumtree. Stop, sign in, get maps and directions to the course at the Toe River Lodge on the left before the state bridge with flower boxes.

Catamount Links Disc Golf Course

Distance:	Located 43 miles (69 km) West of Asheville.
Established:	Course Established in 2006.

Directions: From Asheville; 40 west to Rte 19/23 towards Waynesville/Sylva. Take the Sylva/WCU exit. Take Rte 107 south to Cullowhee. At main WCU entrance, take 2nd right off the roundabout and go up the hill to putting basket, 1st tee and parking on the left.
