Four days of fun and excitement await visitors to Hendersonville's annual NC Apple Festival. This fall favorite, now centered around Historic Main Street, has been drawing locals and visitors alike for 60 plus years to enjoy an impressive array of events including music and dance, extensive arts and crafts, beauty pageants, mountain culture and heritage exhibits, apple orchard tours, and culminating the event, the King Apple Parade. The main stage is alive with sounds of local entertainers from 10:00 am - 10:00 pm Fri-Sun. This free festival begins with the opening ceremony on the Friday before Labor Day and ends Labor Day afternoon with the famed parade.

Organicfest 2008 is a celebration of everything organic! A FUNtastic day of live music, dancing, drawings for baskets of fabulous organic goodies and gift certificates, free organic samples and giveaways, an Organicfest Market on the Square featuring the finest organic: food and refreshments, clothing, herbs, flowers and natural arts and crafts. Environmental organizations will share informative conversation and help with organic living, organic gardening, farming and other earth care matters. Fun activities for kids including the Organicfest Bug Parade at 1pm. Join the celebration on Saturday, September 8th from 10am to 6pm on Battery Park Avenue in downtown Asheville!
North Carolina Mountain State Fair

Grab your prize chicken and overalls and make your way the North Carolina's Mountain State Fair. This 10-day event draws over 150,000 folks each September to the WNC Agricultural Center to enjoy everything from "pig racing and pumpkin contests to lama shows" and all manor of live entertainment. With an extensive competition list, a wide range of entertainment at multiple venues, and endless carnival games and rides to pick from, choosing what to do first might be your biggest challenge at the NC Mountain State Fair. Lexington Avenue is known for its artsy culture, and this original street fair is focused on preserving and sharing that culture with the public. Wacky ideas abound, and anything goes is the name of the game here where the “creative strut their stuff and the rest of us can revel and gawk, and even get inspired and join in!” With a draw of over 10,000 in the past, LAAFF is a chance for local artists, vendors, and small businesses to showcase their wears and ideas and for the rest of us to enjoy the scenery. Monies raised support the efforts of Arts2People and the Asheville Mural Project.

Pack Square Park comes alive on the third Friday of each month May thorough September for Downtown After Five, Downtown Asheville's free concert series. Come out and join the crowd that swells to over 3000 to hear a local favorite open for one of the Southeast's most popular jazz, rock, blues, funk and other family oriented bands. If your in downtown between 5-9pm on a third Friday in the summer, you won't be able to miss the sounds coming from the stage in Pack Square, and if your felling like dancing or just hanging out then make Downtown After Five part your evening.

Each year in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, over 30 American breweries gather to showcase more than 100 different beers. Brewgrass also features a lineup of national and regional bluegrass musicians that, in the past, has included such notables as Jimmy Martin, J.D. Crowe, The Osborne Brothers, Norman Blake, Tony Trischka, Bad Livers, Valerie Smith, Tony Furtado, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Sons Of Ralph. Put all these things together and you have the ingredients for the perfect beer day.
