Because so many vacationers are finding this area, just outside of Asheville, such a desirable vacation destination, many have decided to purchase timeshare there to secure lifelong vacations in their favorite region.

What is a Timeshare?

Some travelers may be wary or intimidated by the idea of purchasing a vacation property, but, with appropriate research, they can be extremely cost effective and convenient. It's simple: timeshares are a way for individuals to share ownership of a vacation property. This shared ownership is one of the reasons that timeshares are so budget-friendly. Because the price of a unit is divided among multiple owners (sometimes as many as 52- one for each week of the year) the cost is much lower for the individual buyers. This in turn, also means that each unit will generally be much larger and better equipped than a hotel room for the same price.

How do Timeshares Work?

When you buy timeshare, you're essentially purchasing a block of time at the resort of your choice. This time is generally purchased in increments of one week. You can buy these weeks annually or biennially and any number of usage combinations is available depending on your vacation lifestyle. It's important to consider your lifestyle when determining what size share you'd like to purchase. It doesn't make sense to purchase three weeks annually if you'll only find time to vacation once. Timeshares only work to your advantage if you use them correctly. For example, if you've fallen in love with the sights and atmosphere of Western North Carolina and want to buy timeshare there, but know you'll only be able to vacation once every other year, you can buy a biennial share rather than be responsible for maintenance fees every year. Your lifestyle will determine how much your timeshare benefits your budget, so consider carefully.

As discussed above, timeshares can be a great alternative to renting a hotel room, but it's important to consider your budget, lifestyle and vacation personality when deciding whether to buy timeshare. Vacation properties are a great investment for some, but they're not for everyone. Do the research and take your time. Determine if timeshares are for you.
