A natural or non-medicated birth is the delivery of a baby without using drugs or surgery. The concept or philosophy behind natural birthing is that childbirth is a totally natural process not a medical procedure. If you choose to go this route, you accept the potential for pain and discomfort as part and parcel of giving birth - an experience that includes working with complete awareness through each stage of labor. But with the right preparation and support, you'll probably feel empowered and deeply satisfied by natural childbirth. There are several options for natural childbirth in the Asheville area. You can work with an "enlightened" doctor at one of the areas hospitals. Another option is to use one of the areas many qualified midwives or birth support doulas in your home or at a birthing center. You can look at these options, weigh the risks and benefits, and choose the style that works best for you.
