Colonic irrigation is a procedure for removing waste and toxins from the large intestine. It is also known as colonic hydrotherapy. The client lies on his / her side on the table and warm water is passed into the bowel through a tube inserted in the rectum. This water circulates through the colon and encourages the bowel to empty. Waste products are then passed out of the body through the tube. The process may also include a gentle massage of the abdomen. Colonic hydrotherapy can help remove traces of feces and other waste products as well as identify worms or parasites living in your gut. It may be effective in relieving constipation and improve over all health. Although there is no medical evidence, some people believe it can help with bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), fatigue, allergies, indigestion, and back pain.
