Celebrating the life and work of Charles Counts, this show features 146 objects including textiles, pottery, paintings, as well as photographs and other archival material. Charles Counts was an expert potter, weaver, teacher and writer. He influenced countless artists and brought worldwide attention to American crafts and the importance of keeping handcrafts alive. Along with his partner, Rubynelle, he operated the production and training center in Rising Fawn, GA for 25 years. Counts became a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild in 1956. He was active in the organization, serving on many committees and the board of trustees. He cared deeply about the Guild and its mission to serve members and the region.

The most popular destination on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Folk Art Center showcases the work of many of the finest craftspeople of the Southern Appalachians. Its three galleries, daily crafts demonstrations (March through December), bookstore and Parkway Information Center attract 250,000 visitors each year. Admission is free. Open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
