Tupelo Honey Cafe (or Tupelo Two)

Tupelo Honey Cafe is known for its gourmet twist on southern classics, and has earned quite a reputation. Rachael Ray, of the Food Network, even visited Tupelo Honey during her Asheville segment of $40 a day (for more info on this, see http://www.foodnetwork.com/40-a-day/asheville-nc/index.html). But now Tupelo Honey Cafe has opened a new location for those of us further south of downtown, or for those who just would like to have a bit more room than the downtown location offers. This new site is located on Hendersonville Road in South Asheville, and is now open.
"Fun, Eclectic, and Colorful"
This statement describes it all, the food, the staff, and the atmosphere, and is the mantra the Cafe adheres to in offering a unique dinning experience. I enjoyed one of Tupelo's best as I savored the crispy fried green tomatoes served over goat cheese grits and sprinkled with fresh basil, recommended to me by my server Noah. Even my eight month old enjoyed the grits. My meal only got better from there as I was served the Cajun Skillet Catfish, House made Rosemary Peach Lemonade, and Lemon Berry Mascarpone Layer Cake, each with a warm smile.
The Executive chef not only contributes his skills, but fresh food as well, from twelve acres of land that he owns. Everything served at the Tupelo Honey Cafe is grown or produced locally.
The atmosphere is refreshing and invites relaxation. As I learned from the Manager Andy, each of the windows and doors that add to the Eclectic feel were donated from houses in Grove Park and surrounding mountain homes in Western North Carolina. All the design and architecture of the Cafe's interior was completed by local craftsmen, including, the punched metal scenes created by Simone Wilson (see picture inset).

As tradition, the new Tupelo Honey Cafe also has a patio, heated, that will be opening in approximately two weeks. This location is also open for reservations.
