Sweet Little Cake Shop Throws Mardi Gras Valentine's Day First Birthday Party!
It's hard to believe that it has only been one year since Short Street Cakes opened its doors at 225 Haywood Road- the year has been so full of beautiful celebrations and the business has been welcomed into the Asheville community with open arms, happy hearts, and eager bellies! To celebrate this first year, and the excitement of the year to come, Short Street Cakes will throw a Mardi Gras Valentine's Birthday Party on Sunday, February 14, 2010, from 12 noon until 6pm. Festivities will include Mardi Gras beads, live music, a cake raffle (to benefit AMURT/Haiti fund), the launching of the 2010 menu, and Valentine's specials (such as our signature "Sweethearts and Broken Hearts" tiny heart shaped cakes).
The Cake Shop at 225 Haywood Road features baked-fresh-daily, Southern style, all-natural cupcakes, mini cupcakes, wedding cakes and birthday cakes. Winter hours are Wednesday through Saturday from Noon until 6pm, Sunday and Monday by special order only. The Cake Shop is closed on Tuesdays.
2010 has seen many developments for Short Street Cakes: the sponsorship of the Howard Street Handmade series of craft markets was a great success and the shop has begun to host art openings and musical events, too.
Short Street Cakes is committed to providing the freshest and yummiest Southern style cakes ever. Short Street Cakes uses all-natural ingredients, and is committed to purchasing local ingredients such as locally -raised eggs, locally milled organic flour, fresh organic edible flowers in season, and locally grown berries and fruits. Short Street Cakes is committed to the Asheville community, and seeks to be a model for ecologically sustainable and socially just business, through responsible ingredient and packaging sourcing, fair employment practices, and engaging with individuals and organizations in the community who are working to address social and environmental issues.
