Footage Fest Returns to Asheville with All-New Comedy Show, Sponsored by The Onion.

The Found Footage Festival, the acclaimed touring showcase of odd and hilarious found videos, returns to Asheville with an all-new show. Hosts Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher, whose credits include The Onion and the Late Show with David Letterman, present a new lineup of found videos and live comedy on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. at The Grey Eagle (185 Clingman Ave.) The Found Footage Festival is sponsored locally by the Media Arts Project (the MAP) and Orbit DVD. Tickets are $10 and available in advance at Orbit DVD and online from the Grey Eagle at http://www.thegreyeagle.com/calendar/2010/01/31/found-footage-film-festival.php

The Found Footage Festival showcases videos found at garage sales and thrift stores, and in warehouses and dumpsters all over the U.S. Curators Pickett and Prueher provide observations and commentary on these found video obscurities. From the industrial training video to the forsaken home movie donated to Goodwill, the Found Footage Festival resurrects forgotten treasures and serves them up in a lively celebration of all things found. Included in the 2010 program:

- A collection of the worst Saturday morning cartoons ever to surface on VHS
- Highlights from a 1987 video dating reel
- A home movie taken at a 1985 heavy metal festival outside Washington, D.C.
- A compilation of exercise videos featuring Dolph Lundgren, Milton Berle, and the WWF.

The Found Footage Festival was founded in New York in 2004 and has been featured on National Public Radio and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and named a critic's pick in dozens of publications, including The Village Voice, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Chicago Tribune. To set up an interview with the curators, contact Nick Prueher at 347-255-7350 or via email at nick@foundfootagefest.com. High-resolution photos, stills and video clips from the festival are available on request.
