Local Photographer Wins Several Travel Photo Contests

As part of my daily routine I check the website traffic on several of the websites that I maintain to look for trends, changes in the search engines, unexpected traffic from new links, and to monitor the success of various online and offline marketing efforts.
Recently I noticed a series of traffic spikes on the website of Mike Belleme, a local documentary photographer. Mike is my younger brother and a frequent contributor to Asheville Now in the form of his Asheville photography and his creation of the Asheville People section.
After a few minutes of research I realized that his traffic spikes were coming from a travel photography daily contest website at photoburst.net. Mike and his girlfriend Kristen recently returned from a three month trip to Southeast Asia, and apparently three of the photos that he submitted to photoburst.net where selected as photo of the day and his entry for the 8th of April, one of my favorites from his trip, was selected as the photo of the week for last week. His photo from the 8th is still in the running for photo of the month.

No problem Mike. I will post an update during May. The slide show you guys did for fam and friends after your trip was amazing. I wish I had a video of it so I could look at it again, it was too much to absorb in one sitting.
