Funny Business Comedy Club to Host First Local and Regional Stand Up Comedy Showcase January 22nd & 23rd!

The Funny Business Comedy Club, located in the historic S and W Building in downtown Asheville, will host Asheville's first local and regional stand up comedy showcase January 22 and 23 with two shows each night. The showcase weekend will include seventeen performers who either live in Asheville or a nearby surrounding city.
Relatively speaking, the Asheville and Western North Carolina stand up comedy scene has experienced a growth spurt not unlike the city of Boston had in the early eighties and New York had in the early nineties. The international attention drawn to Asheville by the annual Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival and the regional success of Asheville's stand up comedy open mic Tomato Tuesday's at The New French Bar on Biltmore Avenue has produced a young and talented group of aspiring stand up comedians.
"We attend and observe the local and regional talent every Tuesday night at the open mic and we also went to last summers Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival and the boom of aspiring comics has been amazing. We are a local club and Asheville's local young comics deserve the opportunity to perform at a great club so we organized a showcase show to help them take that next step."- Eric Yoder, General Manager of The Funny Business Comedy Club.
In the Asheville spirit of being locally friendly tickets to the showcase shows are priced at $5 plus fees if purchased online or $5 cash at the box office the nights of the shows. For the showcase talent roster and information of future shows at The Funny Business Comedy Club visit www.ashevillecomedy.com or contact the box office at 828-318-8909.
