French Broad River Fishing Report - May 25th, 2011

Prime time! This time of year can be the best for smallmouth fishing action. Fish are coming off their spawn and are active and hungry. The river has been flowing at good fishing levels recently and forecasts for the next week look like that will continue. Clarity has been good for the most part, too. Our trips this past week averaged over 50 smallmouth per outing, and though most were in the 8-11" range most trips caught 1 or 2 trophy fish over 16". Cast along current lines and in shoal areas until you find the fish, which are widely distributed now, post-spawn.
