French Broad River Fishing Report - July 9 2014

The river has dropped down to normal summer levels and as of this writing is running pretty clear, though with a brownish stain still. Smallmouth action has been very good in the morning, especially, and also in the late afternoon; avoid the heat of mid-day. Best results have been had using small crankbaits and jigs, fished in the normal summertime places like inside of seam lines and in gentle runs. Bright colors are working really well, probably due to the stain in the river. For more on fishing the French Braod River, call Chris Manderson at 828-216-1336.

Chris, love your reviews and fishing reports. I fish the French Broad but I have never really had much luck, my tactics are: wade and bank fish mostly, small tackle, Senko's and natural bait. I usually fish either the area from the Fireman's Camp near Clayton Road to the Bent Creek mouth and then from Person Bridge to Marshall. I know you can't give too much free advice when you make a living fishing but could you point me to some of the more productive spots on the river. Hey but anyway I just wanted to let you know that I really like your posts and thanks for all the info you give. Take care and good luck!
