French Broad River Fishing Report - 09/09/2009
Cooler days are here and the fishing has changed somewhat with the weather, starting the fall pattern. The river continues to flow at medium-low levels, about 600 cfs, which are great for fishing. Trips are catching about 60 smallmouth per day. Most of these are still smaller guys but we are seeing more large fish, to the 18" range, now that temperatures are cooler. The bite also seems to be a little later starting in the morning. Effective patterns have included spinnerbaits and crankbaits, though there are some leaves in the water now so consider having a weedless option available. Smallmouth seem to be holding in deeper runs and shoals. Chris Manderson, 828 216-1336 for more information or to book a trip.
