French Broad River Fishing Report - 07/31/2009

Home > Outdoor Activities > Fishing

Afternoon rains have been staining the river, effecting the fishing. The smallmouth bite has been strong when runoff from construction areas isnt putting mud in the water. Trips this week have still averaged about 50 fish per trip; nice numbers but down a little from the feverish pitch of the last couple weeks. Also, some larger fish are still active as anglers have caught several trophies over 17" this week. Smallmouth are hanging in the slower currents around runs and shoals, in the currents. Try brighter lures if you encounter some stain due to rains. Chris Manderson, 828-216-1336 for more info or to book a trip.
