Casino Still Safe Despite Stomach Bug

In an attempt to stop the spreading of a virus, the Harrah's Casino in Cherokee is implementing preventative cleaning measures. Reports John Ostendorff of the Asheville Citizen Times:

A virus more commonly found on cruise ships is to blame for an outbreak of intestinal illness in hundreds of guests and staff at Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel. Casino spokesman Charles Pringle said Thursday that a state lab test showed the illness is the highly contagious norovirus. Workers at Harrah's are cleaning slot machines every two hours with a solution of water and bleach in an effort to control the outbreak. Door knobs, escalator handrails and restrooms are being sanitized hourly. The casino has about 3,300 slot machines. The extra work is costing thousands of dollars a day.
