Buncombe County Democratic Party to Host Health Care Political Strategy Session
The Buncombe County Democratic Party will host a political strategy session and discussion on health care reform. The event will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the YMI Cultural Center.
"Our goal is to talk about what we can do on a local level for health care reform," said Charles Carter, Chair of the Buncombe County Democratic Party.
Carter said speakers from Physicians for a National Health Program, MoveOn, and Organizing for America will present national perspectives on the issue of health care reform. In addition, there will be a presentation on Remote Area Medical (RAM), a non-profit organization based out of Knoxville, Tennessee. The organization, founded by Stan Brock in 1985, provides free health care, dental care, eye care, veterinary services and technical and educational assistance to people in remote areas of the U.S. and the world.
"Attendees will also be invited to break out into small groups and discuss ideas with each other." said Carter.
