The Blue Ridge Fine Arts Guild and The Toe River Arts Council (TRAC) announces an exhibition of two dimensional works by members of the Blue Ridge Fine Arts Guild at the TRAC gallery in Spruce Pine that runs from August 20 to September 24. The theme of the show is "Route 80" and the artwork celebrates the scenic splendor of this High Country highway which runs from Pleasant Garden near Marion, NC north to Loafer's Glory. The public is invited to a free reception to meet the artists at the gallery on August 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

The TRAC exhibit invites viewers to journey along route 80 through the eyes of our artists. Paintings, pastels, illustrations, and photographs will join maps of route 80 North and South and historical facts that will be attractively displayed on the walls and easels.

A total of 27 contributing artists with 108 piece are displayed, with red dot that are linked to maps showing there location and also to history panel that tell a story about the area.

The show details the landscape on route 80 from Loafers Glory, at its northern end, as it winds through rural farmland and small villages like Bandana, Kona, Micaville, Celo, and Busick. It crosses the Eastern Continental Divide under the Blue Ridge Parkway and descends through wooded switchbacks to Lake Tahoma and terminates in Pleasant Gardens at its southern end. In late May, 13.4 miles of Route 80 became part of the North Carolina Scenic Bypass to Mount Mitchell.

The TRAC gallery is an ideal location for the show, which runs from August 20th until September 24th, 2011 with the reception on August 26th from 5pm til 7pm. We have a Route 80 and Scenic Byway sign, a motorbike and mountain bike on display as route 80 is one of the favorite routes for bikers.

The exhibition is free and will be open Mondays to Saturdays from 10am until 5pm.

Sponsorship from both TRAC (Toe River Arts Council) and NCA.org (North Carolina Arts) has made this show possible.
