Ask Bubbi

Dear Bubbi,

I have a crush on this guy I work with but I know for a fact that he's dating another girl in the office. She trades in boyfriends like used cars and I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before she dumps him. Do you think it's out of line for me to make a move before this happens? Just so you'll know...We are all in our 30's.

~Waiting In Line

Dear Waiting In Line,

If we all made assumptions like yours, half the relationships in this world would never have a fighting chance. NO...I do not think that you should make a move unless the two of them stop dating. In the meanwhile, try to keep your relationship with your "crush" on the professional side. I'm sure you don't want to get a reputation around the office of being a koket (flirt).

Dear Bubbi,

My grandchildren are always sick. I've suggested to my daughter and son-in-law that they give their little ones vitamins to keep their immune systems strong. They have yet to take my advice. Those poor children are on antibiotics every other week! How do I get them to listen without seeming overbearing?

~A Caring Grandma

Dear A Caring Grandma,

All you can do is make suggestions...You can't do anything else, so don't get yourself sick over it. It could be possible that your advice is being interpreted as "Mom thinks we are lousy parents." My suggestion is, always start out by saying something positive to them about their child rearing abilities, before you dole out advice. Then, as hard as it is, don't give out aitsa (advice) unless they ask for it!
