Ask Bubbi Advice Column - Monday June 15th 2009
Dear Bubbi,
I'm a 24 year old male who's content being a loner and I get a lot of grief about that from family and friends. I don't have much in common with other people (especially the girls I meet) and rarely get together with anyone. When I'm not working,I like to stay home, read and work on a mystery novel I hope to publish one day. Do you think I'm weird?
~Happy Being A Loner
Dear Happy Being A Loner,
I'm sorry that everyone is k'vetching (griping).I don't think you're weird but I do wonder if your writing career might benefit from more exposure to the outside world. There is a story in every person you meet and you might come up with some interesting characters for your novel. Also...Opposites attract so you might hit it off with a girl who is totally different from you. Give it a chance. It could lead to some good times.
Dear Bubbi,
I am in love with this wonderful woman but she has been married twice and neither of the marriages lasted very long. Should I be concerned? She is 45 and I am 33 and the age difference has become a big issue (more with her than with me). I would like to marry this woman one day.
~Concerned In Asheville
Dear Concerned In Asheville,
Let's start with the age difference. Have the two of you sat down and discussed it? 12 years is a big age difference but not the end of the world if you're both comfortable with it. Farshtaist? (Understand )
As far as her previous marriages.. I wouldn't worry about it unless she indicates that she hates to be in long term relationships or admits she was the reason both her husbands packed their bags and make a fast exit.
I think you both could benefit from some marriage counseling if it gets that serious.
