Dear Bubbi,

I'm about to give up on dating. I can't meet a guy who really wants a committed relationship. My friends say I should lighten up and learn to have fun. All they do is drink too much and party every weekend. I'm 27 and looking for something better. Am I asking for too much?

Dear Tired Of Playing the Field,

I'm sure your friends mean well, but it's your decision as to what you want out of life. I don't think an alcohol oriented party environment is the best place to meet a potential suitor. Why don't you frequent places more conducive to meeting intelligent, interesting men who don't need bronfen (liquor) to be personable. Grab a good book and try the local coffee shop.

I am so tired of people coming up to me and asking me where I'm from. I've lived in the mountains of North Carolina for almost 30 years, but I never lost my heavy Brooklyn accent. When will I be considered a local?

Dear Former New Yorker,

I went out into the community to ask the "locals" for help with this one.

Here are their answers:

86 year old Lester from Canton said.." Let's sit here and rest a spell and I'll think about it... (20 minutes later) The answer is never!"

62 year old Lilly from Candler said..." Bless his heart... Maybe if he gets hitched to me, folks will accept him."

Azoi gait es (that's how it goes. In other words...That's life kid!)
