Dear Bubbi,

I'm two semesters away from graduating college and I've completely changed my mind about what I want to do with my life. I no longer want to go into the teaching field. I want to go to New York and be an actress. It has always been my dream but no-one supported the idea, especially not my Mother. Problem is, I don't know what to do next.

Dear Need To Live Out My Dream,

Why don't you finish college, since you're so close to graduating and then move to New York. It never hurts to have a college degree under your belt, especially since you'll need a shteleh (job) to support yourself until you get your acting career going. In the meanwhile, take a few days and go to New York to get a feel of the Big City. I'm sure there are many things you'll need to research before you make the big move.

Dear Bubbi,

My two kids are grown, but still expect me to hand over cash when they come up short at the end of the month. I'm single and I'm working two jobs just to support myself. They both know that, but it doesn't stop them from asking for help. Any suggestions?

Dear Strapped For Cash,

It's time for a family meeting! Either your kids are not getting the message that you don't have the money to support them (perhaps you haven't made it clear enough) or they just aren't too concerned about it. Either way, you are the parent and it's time to give your adult children a dose of reality. Give them one month's notice that you will no longer be able to support them. Offer to help them figure out constructive ways they can bring in more income. Then give big hugs and wish them mazel (luck).
