Dear Bubbi,

I'm trying to lose weight but instead of encouraging me, my two best friends are making fun of me all the time. I'm at the point that I want to dump them both along with the extra pounds. Any advice?

~Trying To Get In Shape

Dear Trying To Get In Shape,

Best friends? If they can't be supportive of you, I say lose them along with the weight! You'll feel healthier and happier!

Dear Bubbi,

My sister's steady boyfriend is an opinionated loudmouth who ruins just about every family gathering. I want to tell him off but I know my parents would be upset. My sister seems oblivious to his behavior and talking to her would be a waste of time. Any suggestions on how to get him to think before he talks?

~Aggravated Sister

Dear Aggravated Sister,

When he starts ranting, I would interrupt him and ask him (politely, of course) if he could tone it down a bit. Tell him you don't think family gatherings are the time and place for his heated discussions. Smile while you're saying all this,so he won't think that you are looking to get into an argument. Then offer him a nice cold drink!
