Ask Bubbi Advice Column - Monday April 26th 2010
Dear Bubbi,
I want to change careers. I'm in my 50's and my kids (both grown and married) think it's too late in life for me to do this. I'm recently divorced and self supporting so I feel that it is my decision. What do you think?
~Wanting A New Beginning
Dear Wanting A New Beginning,
I agree with you 100%! I don't think your children mean any harm. They could be concerned about your future and/or nervous about their Mother making big changes in her life. My suggestion is to sit down and talk to them, letting them know how excited you are about embarking on a new career. Then go out and find your happiness!
Dear Bubbi,
My husband and I bought a fixer upper with the intentions of spending every weekend working on the house. So far, my husband has found an excuse every weekend not to work on the house. Mostly, he goes off with his friends to play. It's been six months and I'd like some of these projects finished!
~Tired Of The Mess
Dear Tired Of The Mess,
Have the two of you sat down and written out a list of exactly what has to be done? (including supplies needed to finish the project). The total picture might be overwhelming him... That's why it's important to make that list and take on one project at a time. Are you planning to work with him on these projects? If so, try to make it a FUN experience. Take before and after pictures, keep a journal (maybe blog about it online) and look at this as spending quality time together! Keep in mind the end result... A BEAUTIFUL HOME!!
