Asheville vs. Portland for Best Beer City, USA
There has been a fair amount of coverage about the Favorite Beer City, USA Examiner.com Poll on local blogs like Bruisin' Ales Beer Blog, on Facebook and other social networks, and among Asheville's active Twitter community, but I decided to write a little something it. On March 19th, 2009 Charlie Papazian, a food writer for the Charlotte, NC based Examiner.com, published a poll asking visitors to rate the best beer city in the United States.
When I last checked over 6,300 people had voted. Asheville is in 2nd place with 1867 votes, just behind Portland, OR with 1907 votes. Voting and commenting on the poll has been fast and furious. To date there have been 87 comments on the poll, mostly from locals in the top three cities putting in their two cents.
If you think Asheville has the best beer in the country, or just want to help the Asheville Beer Scene get on the map in an even bigger way, then please vote and tell your friends to vote.

Vote for your favorite "Beer City USA." I say rather confidently, there's never been a better time to be a beer drinker in the United States. Wave after glorious wave of beer festivals and beer-centric events are sudsing over the American landscape. You might say the "tide's in!" Are you a happy beer enthusiast or what?
With beer enthusiasm on the rise, especially for small, local and craft brewed beer there's a lot of pent up pride building. I've heard many boast of their favorite beer city. Here's you chance to express your feelings and vote. One vote per person.
Click here to vote. Polls close at Noon (Mountain Time) on May 7th 2009.
Please feel free to share this via email, on facebook, on your blog, etc. Goodluck Asheville!
