RiverLink visited Asheville Middle School this week to do art lessons with Mrs. Carson's RiverCorps. The children watched a PowerPoint on the French Broad River while brainstorming on what inspires them about the river. After the slideshow, the children got to create art focusing on the French Broad River and its watershed. Needless to say, the students generated some great pieces of art.

All of this was done in anticipation of RiverLink's 3rd Annual Earth Day Art and Poetry Contest, which kicks off next week-details to come.

Interested in helping out with the contest? We're holding a volunteer training next week for watershed education volunteers on Thursday, January 28th at 5:00. The training will take place at the RiverLink office, and will cover a couple of lessons as well as all of the duties that entail volunteering for the art contest. We need as many volunteers as we can get! Come on out! Please RSVP to RiverLink's Education Coordinator, Rebecca Childress, by Tuesday, January 26th. Rebecca can be reached at education@riverlink.org or 828-252-8474 ext. 111.
