Asheville Chamber Announces the Culinary Affair 2010
The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Asheville Independent Restaurant Association (AIR) are pleased to announce The Culinary AffAIR, presented by the FIRC Group. The elegant evening will be hosted by Janice and Joe Brumit at the Burghley Ballroom in the Doubletree Biltmore Hotel, Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 7 until 11 p.m.
The black tie evening begins with a cocktail hour featuring several hors d'oeuvres stations, each paired with a signature cocktail. This hour of mingling and tasting will include delights from The Colorful Palate, The Lobster Trap, Frankie Bones Restaurant and Lounge, and Luella's Bar-B-Que.
The independent restaurateurs and chefs of the Asheville area will then invite you to be seated for a six-course dinner. They will serve you and your guests from appetizer to dessert, each with an aptly paired wine. The AIR restaurants have worked together to determine and prepare the menu which begins with an appetizer course from Fiore's Ristorante Toscana and a winter soup selection from The Corner Kitchen, complemented with select breads from City Bakery. The culinary delights continue with Savoy providing a seafood selection followed by the fowl dish prepared by Bouchon French Bistro. The Blue Ridge Dining Room at The Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa will serve guests the meat entree and finally a mouth-watering dessert from the French Broad Chocolate Lounge.
"The annual Culinary AffAIR showcases Asheville as a culinary jewel while benefiting important Chamber programs," said Chamber President Richard J. Lutovsky. The evening also features a silent auction to benefit the AIR Foundation that supports Buncombe County students in need at the ABTech Culinary program through the Chefs of Tomorrow scholarships. "This evening is an opportunity for us to celebrate our local epicurean talents and create opportunities for our future chefs and the other essential programs for our independent restaurants," said AIR President Kevin Schwartz.
