Don't miss the 8th Annual Asheville Fringe Arts Festival - January 21-24, 2010
The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival is a featured collection of performers, artists and experimental music composers. Those of you who've attended the Fringe Arts Festival in the past know that it is a cabaret of curious and eccentric performances that inspire your divergent side to come out and play. Some of this year's performers are members of Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre, Moving Women, Royal Peasantry Sideshow, The Runaway Circus, Jim Julien and many, many more. Sit in at any of the festivals four locations and bring your voyeuristic cohorts to this weekends explosion of sublime spectacles and earfuls of sonic surprises!
The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival was inspired by Susan and Giles Collard of Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre by what they saw as a growing population of artists in Asheville who were creating work that was interesting, bizarre and definitely out of the mainstream. They started it in 2003 and are now in their eighth year of presenting performance experiences that push boundaries for the artists and the audiences. They speak to audiences that are curious and culturally adventurous and want to experience live and unique performance.
This year, the festival presents four different shows in venues; the LaZoom Bus, Scandals Nite Club in the Grove House, the BeBe Theatre and the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center. The opening night tickets are $8.00 the regular show tickets are $12.00, $10.00 for students/seniors and with all-access Fringe Freak pass, pass holders can see it all for $25.00.
Their Mission--"The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival provides artists with opportunities to explore the edges of their work, to collaborate across genres and to bring new and innovative performances to culturally adventurous audiences."
